Those who apply to Medicaid coverage and are denied can still apply for Children’s Health Insurance Program. However, enrollment does not last a lifetime and beneficiaries will need to reapply for CHIP every 12 months. After applying for CHIP, most applicants will find out about their enrollment status in about 30 to 45 days after submitting their application.
